Zalul's mission:
Zalul Environmental Association is an environmental not-for-profit organization committed to protecting and maintaining clean, clear water along Israel’s rivers and shorelines. Founded in 1999 by a group of concerned citizens alarmed by the ongoing degeneration of Israel’s natural water resources and the lack of infrastructure and regulations to safeguard them, Zalul is comprised of a dedicated small team of professionals from various fields, devoted to protecting Israel’s natural heritage and to bring issues of environmental protection to the forefront of the public agenda. Today, Zalul is one of Israel’s leading environmental NGOs.

Herzliya is responsible for closing Tel Aviv's Tzook Beach!
On March 19, 2008, Zalul Environmental Association exclaimed in a letter to the Mayor of Herzliya, Yael German, "Herzilya's sewage treatment plant, by discharging their effluent to the sea, is responsible for the pollution that has closed Tel Aviv's Tzook Beach."

Zalul to Haifa Mayor: You are a partner in the pollution of Haifa Bay!
Executive Director of Zalul, Yariv Abramovich, turned to Mayor Yonah Yahav by letter after his agreement to build a pipe to the sea for the effluent of the Kishon factories was concealed from the public by Minister Yehudit Naot in light of the plan's environmental consequences.
Zalul Environmental Association: Zilker is taking the public for a ride!
On January 24, 2008, Zalul Environmental Association announced a new round of campaigning for the Lachish River at a press conference in Ashdod. The campaign's focus is on Mayor Zvi Zilker, who is also the chairman of the river's rehabilitation committee.
Yariv Abramovich named one of Israel’s 10 most influential environmental leaders
Maariv, one of Israel's most popular daily newspapers, published its annual top ten list of the most influential environmental leaders in Israel for 2007. Among them was Zalul's very own Executive Director, Yariv Abramovich.
Benjamin Kahn named Time Magazine Hero of the Environment
Benjamin Kahn, Chairman of Zalul, was named as one of 43 "Heroes of the Environment" from around the world at Time Magazine’s annual TIME Heroes awards celebration and ceremony, which took place on October 25th at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.
