Hadera River: 10,000 People Signed the Petition

So far Zalul has gathered more than 10,000 signatures of residents of the Hadera area. Both Jewish and Arab leaders are calling for the authorities in the region to take rsponsibility and put an end to the pollution.

The Hadera River flows through the center of the country, which is a densely populated area. The river flowed for years in Baka El Garbia, which polluted it with sewage, as well as the communities along the Wadi Ara. Sewage treatment plants also contribute to the pollution as well as fish ponds along the streams.

Absurdly, the state authorities established sewage treatment plants at the cost of tens of millions of shekels to purify the sewage and restore agriculture. One sewage treatment plant was established in Baka El Garbia and another by the Irun Stream. These plants have not been activated due to incompetence in the hands of the authorities, the government ministries, and the enforcement officials.

Zalul continued to put pressure on regional authorities and ministries to begin operating the sewage treatment plants and restoring the river. Residents of the region deserve a clean river because not only does the canal sewage stink, it pollutes the groundwater and contaminates the sea as well.
