Zalul to Israel's Port Authority: "Dredging the Haifa harbor and the Kishon River pollutes the sea with poisonous sludge and endangers public health!"
Zalul's Director, Yariv Abramovich, recently turned to the Director of Israel's Port Authority, Mr. Shlomo Breiman, and to the members of the Kishon RiverAuthority warning them of the hidden dangers in the dredging project in the Haifa harbor and the Kishon River estuary and demanded the work be ceased immediately until the matter is comprehensively and methodically checked.

The Ministry of Environment must work to stop the illegal operation of the Ala Pipeline near Acco.
After turning to many different responsible bodies at the Ministry of Environment in order to put an end to the illegal operation of the Ala Pipeline, the efforts were in vain. Now Zalul turned to the Minister of Environment in a request that he take the matter into his own hands.

Internal Committee for the Environment determined on July 2: Urgent measures must be taken against the pollution of the Gulf of Acco.
As a result of major pollution in the Gulf of Acco, in which the coastal beaches of the city have been closed, and due to a convention in the city led by Zalul that took place the weekend before, the Internal Committee for the Environment in the Knesset, led by Knesset Member David Azulai, convened on July 2 to discuss the pollution problem.

Acco’s residents, Zalul activists, fishermen and other green-minded individuals all got together on Thursday to demonstrate against the sewage spills through the Ala Pipeline
The demonstration took place as part of the Zalul’s joint campaign with the Acco municipality against the pollution in the Gulf of Acco. Approximately 40 people participated on the demonstration in which signs stating “who is the next victim?” were displayed and petitions under the same headline were signed.

15 boats, Acco’s Navy prep school students, Yamiya club, and fishermen from the Kishon and Acco all participated in a protest regatta.
The regatta organized by Zalul Association in cooperation with the Municipality of Acco was in objection to the sewage being spilled into the sea.
Simultaneously, Zalul and “Eco Ocean”, a research organization, conducted tests at the bottom of the Gulf of Acco in order to monitor sewage spills.

Zalul plans to take legal action against the Permit Committee for permitting the Miluban factory to spill sewage into the sea
February, 2006: According to Zalul, the decision of the committee is scandalous and embarrassing. Three of the polluted sludge pools were recently cleared out of the Kishon River and moved to the “Efee” contaminated matter site in the Negev as a result of Zalul’s campaign
The Israeli Ports Corporation cleared out 75 tons of sludge from three pools on the banks of the Kishon River. The sludge was removed via train to the 'Efee' hazardous waste site in the Negev. A year earlier, Zalul had exposed the dangerously contaminated Kishon River in its report "Contaminated Ground in the Haifa Gulf" (January, 2005).
